2017 MCC Invitational

Members,

Greetings! We invite you to come celebrate Mesa Country Club’s 62nd Annual Invitational Tournament.  We hope you will become part of one of the Valley’s most prestigious invitational events.

General Information

Play will cover four days, May 3rd through 6th, with a complimentary practice round on Tuesday, May 2nd. The entry fee of $410 per player includes green fees, golf carts, stag dinner for participants on Tuesday, and other social events for participants and ladies on Thursday and Saturday evening. Please note that Guest-Guest teams will pay $460 per player.

Entries are limited to 104 two-man teams with maximum USGA approved player handicap of 36. The maximum difference in team handicap will be 8 (the lowest index from the last 6 months will be used). One member of each team must be a dues paying member of a country club. No player under 21 years of age will be permitted.

Flights are as follows:

  • Open Flight: Amateur Gross flight (no strokes), 8 team round robin, Calcutta auction. $400 minimum (no professionals)
  • Championship: Team auction starting at $400 per team, must purchase team if not auctioned off, automatically eligible to buy at least 50%. No professionals.
  • Flights 1-5: Full handicap, $100 per team mandatory cash buy-in

Entries will be accepted in the following priority for a field of 104 teams.   

  • Member/Guest – priority until April 4th
  • Member/Member – priority until April 4th
  • Open Flight (Gross Only) - priority until April 4th 
  • Guest/Guest – will officially be accepted April 5th
All Guest/Guest team checks must be mailed with the completed entry form to be officially entered into the tournament. Entries received after 104 teams have entered will be placed on the alternate list and will be contacted.
 
ENTRY DEADLINE – MONDAY, APRIL 17TH!
 
Practice & qualifying/seeding rounds will take place on Tuesday, May 2nd. If we do not have enough teams qualifying for Open flight, teams with lowest combined handicap will be drafted into that flight. The Calcutta and Team auctions will take place following afternoon play on Tuesday.

Event Schedule

Here's the Event schedule for the 62nd Annual MCC Invitational:

Tuesday, May 2nd 

  • Teams qualifying for seeding Open flights must play before 11am. $400 minimum buy-in for Open & Championship Flight!
  • Placement into all other flights on basis of accredited handicaps
  • Best ball tournament (register in Pro Shop)
  • Stag night program (contestants only)
  • Calcutta for Open Flight teams & Team auction for Championship flight teams begins at 6:00pm
  • Dinner: 7:00p.m. (gaming after)

Wednesday, May 3rd 

  • First round best ball match play
  • Breakfast in clubhouse 6:15am – 10:30am
  • $100 per team cash sweepstakes buy-in for flights 1-5
  • Pari-mutuel wagering on all flights

Thursday, May 4th  

  • Second round best ball match play
  • Breakfast in clubhouse 6:15am – 10:30am
  • Cinco de Mayo "Get Acquainted" cocktail party, mariachis, and Mexican buffet 7:00 p.m.
  • Ladies and all participants invited
  • Casual dress

Friday, May 5th

  • Semi-final best ball match play
  • Breakfast in clubhouse 6:15am – 10:30am
  • Pari-mutuels for the Cinco de Mayo championship
  • Live music at “Camp Bushwood” 7:00pm-10:00pm ($20 cover charge)

Saturday, May 6th

  • Finals in all flights, Cinco de Mayo final round
  • No-host cocktail hour: 6:00-7:00pm
  • Dinner: 7:00pm Casual Dress
  • Awards presentation: 8:00pm
  • Dancing: Live Music 8:30pm – 11:30pm
