Welcome

The Classic Golf Course

Mesa Country Club was created in 1948 by legendary golf course architect
William “Billy” Bell. Perhaps best known for his work in San Diego at the
Torrey Pines South Course and La Jolla Country Club, Bell’s portfolio extends
into Arizona at Mesa Country Club, Tucson Country Club and the renowned
original design of Papago.

The 75-year history of Mesa Country Club is evidenced by the stunning,
mature trees that line every fairway. Reminiscent of other great designs of that
era, the course boasts holes that move both left and right, par-3s of varying
lengths and orientations, and reachable risk/reward par-5s that bring eagles
and “others” into play.

In addition to the towering aleppo pine and eucalyptus trees that frame the
course, the most notable features are the elevation changes enabled by the
natural plateau which divides upper and lower holes. Some of the smallest
greens in the state protect the course from low scores, particularly on holes
8, 9, 13 and 18 where the back-to-front slopes are substantial.

Beyond just a collection of interesting golf holes, Mesa Country Club is
a strategic golf course – a story that unfolds with each new tee shot and
approach. Short distances from green to tee allow for easy walking and also
help to keep a pace of four hours or better at all times. Best of all, the course
returns to the clubhouse on numerous occasions, meaning you can tailor your
play to as much time as you have available.

75 Years of History & Tradition

In the pantheon of Arizona private golf, there are five classic city clubs: Arizona Country Club, Phoenix Country Club, Paradise Valley Country Club, Tucson Country Club, and, of course, Mesa Country Club. All constructed at nearly the same time in the mid-1940s, these five courses exemplified innovation when they were first built, and they define classic now approaching seven decades later.

When someone becomes part of something that’s been around for generations, it becomes apparent why many of our Members are sons and daughters of Members. It’s this legacy – carefully stewarded – which instills a sense of pride that’s evident whether experienced for 30 minutes, 30 days or 30 years, and is a large part of why new families choose to make Mesa Country Club their home.

  • Summer activities for kids, including a competitive swim team, and golf & tennis camps
  • A fitness center with cardio, mobility and strength equipment
  • A social calendar packed with everything from bing to live bands

Whatever relaxation looks like to each Member, we’ve got it covered.

Fun for your Family

Mesa Country Club is not just great for the addicted golfer(s) in the family: the club is also a safe and fun environment for children. Family-friendly activities abound, including:

  • Private instruction, group clinics, and camps for golf, tennis and swimming
  • Competitive swimming programs with other area clubs
  • Family friendly events such as 4th of July fireworks, Easter egg hunt, and breakfast with Santa.
